The Part D formulary is key

A quick review of the above list will show a sharp disparity of monthly premiums for Connecticut Part D plans. Too many people have made the mistake of choosing a plan based on premium alone. Although a plan with a low premium may be right for you, it’s no guarantee. Neither is it assured that a higher premium necessarily means that you will have a more suitable plan.

If your drugs are not covered, all bets are off. The plan’s formulary is by far the most important piece of information you should consider when choosing a plan. The list above is merely a staring point in your quest to find the best Part D coverage. If you are looking for a plan without a deductible or a high Medicare star rating, this list can help you, but you will need to dig deeper with each plan to be certain your drugs are covered.

Your opportunity to make plan changes mid-year is limited. Unless you are entitled to a Special Enrollment Period or are newly eligible for Medicare your opportunity to make changes will be the Open Enrollment Period which runs from October 15th through December 7th each year. Choose wisely.
